Dear all

welcome to Week 6 of Another GREAT Week

Name The School Magazine Competition

Thanks to all students who entered the competition. We received lots of very creative entries and your effort is greatly appreciated.

The winner of the competition is Sam B. with the 2013 School Magazine being named  BUNDERRA.
Bunderra is an aboriginal word which means "Among The Hills."
Congratulations Sam!!!

New Twin Welding Bays In Our Metalwork Room

The new twin welding bays are now in operation in the T block's metalwork room. This allows two students to be operating welders simultaneously. The welding bays completion has proved timely with the Year 9 students reaching the fabrication phase of their Aboriginal art influenced wrought iron animals.

Role Play in Mathematics

Students in year 7 and 8 enjoyed role playing different mathematical concepts using movie genres to demonstrate what they’ve been learning over the last three weeks in a series of incursions given by maths entertainer Russ Pirie.   Russ has been making maths fun for students and helping consolidate their learning about percentages, algebra, decimals, fractions and maths in every day life.

World Challenge Free Dress Day and BBQ

This Wednesday the students who are participating in this year's World Challenge trip to Borneo organised a fundraising day consisting of a Free Dress Day and a Sausage Sizzle. They asked their peers to give a gold coin donation to wear free dress clothes and sold sausages in bread and drinks to try and raise as much money as they possibly could for their Community Service Project which they will undertake on their Borneo Trip which will commence Tuesday 19 November.
Congratulations to all parties involved as they managed to raise $550.
A big thank you to all staff and students for supporting these fundraising efforts.

VCAL OHS Project

The students of VCAL as part of their work related skills program developed a series of videos on OH&S issues in a work environment. Students felt that their videos would show issues that may arise and how these issues could be avoided.
