Another GREAT Week-9

Calendar Dates for Term 2

Final day Semester 2 Friday 28 June
Dear all,

welcome to week 9 of Another GREAT Week.

We might have had a three day week due to the Queens Birthday and Report Writing Day, however, plenty still happened at FHC. Homework Club, Community Service, Breakfast Club etc all continued uninterrupted. The week is a very busy one for teachers who are trying to fit report writing and exam correction in amongst the demands of preparing for and delivering their regular teaching

Breakfast Club

A trip to the canteen on Tuesday and Thursday mornings is well worth it. Many students are enjoying the 50 cent breakfast delicacies, led by our Chaplain Ben. They sit, eat, chat and listen to music. Students of all ages mix in a friendly environment. Ben chats with them and they seem to really appreciate his efforts.

King Kong

We were fortunate enough to acquire some tickets to see King Kong this Wednesday evening. Mr Grant and a number of students and parents took up the opportunity and the feedback we got is that the show is well worth a look.

World Challenge 2014

Students and their parents who are interested in participating in the 2014 World Challenge experience met with Mr Webb on Thursday evening. At this stage we have around a dozen students interested for 2014. It is certainly not to late to register your interest. we still have 6 months before final decisions are required to be made.

Music Soiree

Thursday evening was filled with the sounds of our young students displaying their musical talents.Ms Morrow had done a great job leading her team of Instrumental staff to produce such wonderful music. The parents and students seemed to really enjoy the experience.

Junior Boys Soccer

Our Year 7 boys team travelled to Darebin in bleak conditions to take on their Whitehorse rivals. They toughed it out in the conditions and had a lot of fun. A detailed report will be in next week's blog.
Last week both the year seven girls and year eight girls played their respective interschool competitions. Here is a more detailed report from Coach Mr Innes.
We were able to field two teams for each age group which equaled the participation of the much larger schools and was better than some as well. Although we didn’t take the overall winners crown we took our share of wins over teams that came in with big reputations. Especially pleasing were the victories over Koonung and East Doncaster. Our girls were incredibly skillful, hard running and awesome in defence. The main difference between us and the overall winners of the competition turned out to be height. This affected our rebounding and ability to feed the ball to our shooters in one or two close games.
The strong team spirit and obvious fun we had will undoubtedly draw us back next year. Hopefully any girls out there who didn’t put their names down this time will come and join us in 2014. A big thank you to our super coaches from the Developing Sports Leaders Program. Tiegan W and Anna C coached the year sevens while Jordi C and Rachel T coached the year eights.
Our Year Seven Representatives were Chloe T, Codi M, Holly T, Stephanie M, Alysha R, Natasha R, Madie G, Zoe H, Olivia W, Jasmine E, Alex C, Crystal T, Yasmin N, Elleni E, Bec A, Phoebe G, Sofia S, Emily N and Jasmine G.

Our Year Eight Representatives were Eloise M, Chloe S, Jess E, Vanessa M, Tayla I, Kate W, Jess B, Danika W, Maddy P, Sara W, Gemma M, Ayen G, Tayla P, Talia R, Mary G, Amanda H and Tayla H.
