Dear all, welcome to Week 8 of Another GREAT Week,
Premiers Award
On Wednesday this week College Principal, Jenny Cook accompanied our Year 12 student Jaimielee who was the proud recipient of a VCE Premiers Award for scoring a perfect 50 in Auslan in 2012, to a ceremony held at The Melbourne Convention Centre. Jaimilee was introduced to the official party before the ceremony began. This was an honour for her and for our community. She was then presented with her award in front of over a 1000 people. As a College we are very proud of Jaimielee's achievements. Not only has she experienced enormous pride for herself, but also for her family, the teachers of the College, her peers and for our community as a whole. She typifies that by focusing on goals you can achieve at the highest level.
Year 10-12 Exams
This week saw our Year 10-12 students participating in exams. All week the atmosphere in the exam centre has been one of hard work and striving to achieve personal bests. We know our Year 10 and 11 students are learning a lot about the skills required to succeed in exams. the Year 12 students are getting a rich learning experience at a time when they can still positively impact on their end of year performance.
Planting the courtyard gardens
On Tuesday this week, a group of enthusiastic gardeners planted over 150 plants in the Southern courtyard garden beds. They mulched the gardens as well. Thanks go to Jack, Blake, Natashsa, Genevieve, Jen, Jared, Alex,Nathan, Chloe and Danny for the wonderful work they did. The gardens look great.
Overseas Guests
This week we had a visit from senior teachers in Singapore, looking at our Deaf facility and how we are able to cater for all students needs through differentiation.. It is great to see our reputation spread to an international audience.

Global Leaders Convention
On Wednesday Mel Fraser took our Impact Leaders into the City to meet with other school leaders. Our students felt very to attend the conference at the
Melbourne Convention Centre. They were amongst about 700 other students who participated in
workshops and listened to young speakers tell their stories of following their
goals. Our students were exposed to a broad perspective of what leadership can
be and how doing the simple things well
and maintaining focus can be the makings of a great team and great
leadership qualities. The students who attended have certainly enhanced their
capacity to lead our student body.
Year 7 & 8 Netball and Football
On Monday our boys football and 2 girls netball teams participated in Division competition. Our football team had a great day and were narrowly defeated for the "bronze medal" in the final for third place. Wayward kicking let them down in this match and they were defeated in this final by only 4 points. Coaches Greg Heaton, Nick P and Dom O were very pleased with the way the boys gelled as a unit
The girls fielded 2 netball teams and their coaches Jordi C and Rachel T did a wonderful job. Some great tactical moves were made by coach Jordi in a match against East Doncaster. Although we lost this game by 1 goal, the skills Jordi is developing in the Sports Leaders class were clearly evident. Her communication with the team was of a high standard. She made clever tactical moves that energised her team.
In Year 7 we had a boys football team and 2 girls netball teams. Tiegan W coached and did a wonderful job.
The boys played well in their football matches and for 1/2 a game against the strongest opponent got well on top and outscored their opposition. Our stand out performers were Mohaned, Tom and Daniel.

Over 90 students were involved in these 2 days. We enjoy seeing so many of our students taking on the opportunities that the College provides for them.
