welcome to week 3 of Another GREAT Week.
Some Calendar Dates for the next few weeks
Year 7 Information Night Tuesday Feb 19
Year 12 Outdoor Education Camp Wednesday 20 Feb to Friday 22 Feb
College Photos/ Uniform
This Monday all students had their photos taken. During that day I personally checked every student's uniform and was impressed. Having said that, we still have a few students without correct shoes. Parents need to be aware that students are required in black school shoes. This does not include flat canvas shoes or ballet flats.
From Term 2 we will be moving to our new uniform guidelines, and a focus will shift to ensure all students are wearing white socks. the only exception is if girls wish to wear socks with their navy tights. In that case they would wear navy socks to match the tights.
Photos can be ordered online through Compass. They are on your parent and student Compass home page. Alternatively, if you would prefer not to order and pay online, all students were provided with an order form which simply needs completing and returning to the General Office.
On Tuesday we sent an email and a letter to all parents with their individual logins to Compass. Compass is now the vehicle for communication between home and school. Our school community will now be provided with a range of facilities that will streamline communication and provide parents with enhanced access to information.
Compass Newsfeed
Compass Attendance Manger
Parents will also notice a feature that alerts them to any unapproved lateness or absence of their child. To respond to this we ask that parents print off the "unapproved absence parent letter". We then ask that you sign it and provide us with an appropriate reason for the absence/ late, and return it to the General Office.
In the short term we have decided to make this immediately available to parents to better inform you. As we fine tune our processes we hope that we do not make many errors. If you feel the data on your Compass home page is inaccurate, please do not hesitate to contact me at the College. Later in the term, we will be using Compass to manage Parent/ Teacher/ Student interview bookings.
Lions Youth of the Year.
On Tuesday evening, Paul K from Year 11 competed in the Lions Youth of the Year. Paul delivered 2 speeches as part of this competition, the first was a prepared one and the second an impromptu response to a challenge posed by the adjudicators. We are awaiting results, but are led to believe he performed very well.
Tribe Captains for 2013
On Wednesday we announced that our Tribe Captains for 2013 are
Blue Nathan T & Tess W
Green Dom W & Ryan B
Red Sally M & James K
Yellow Sam W & Dom C
We would like to congratulate all candidates on their applications and speeches. I would like to see all those who were not successful in 2013 get behind the successful candidates and their Tribes and provide as much enthusiasm and support as they can to them. I look forward to them coming back for 2014 even more determined to be a Tribe Captain.
Tribe Swimming Sports.
On Friday we conducted our Tribe Swimming Sports. The event was well attended and the hot weather made for a wonderful day to be in the pool. Staff worked tirelessly to ensure every student was sun smart. We saw some great efforts by the students in the pool and we hope they all had a fantastic day cheering for their friends and Tribe team mates.
