Welcme to another GREAT week version 5.
We kicked off the week with our first transition visit to Primary Schools. Visits to Orchard Grove and Parkmore went really well. Jake Dyson, Dom O'Shea and Alec Tsementzis went back to OGPS and Jared Walls, Jordan Crossin and Genevieve Meriton went back to PPS. They presented a slide show and interactive session on FHC, as well as promotong Discovery Evening ( Thurs April 19)
Ally Jones competed in the Lions Youth of The Year Quest and performed extremely well, narrowly beaten, but highly commended. Her presentations were of the highest standars. She was required to participate in a 1 hour interview with the panel and in the evening make speech in front of a dinner audience.
On Tuesday night we ran our Yr 8 and 9 learning culture induction session for parents. It was quite well attended and very highly rated by the parents as they left. many approached me and thanked us for running such an informative presentation. They are very keen to gain access to the curriculum and assessmnet schedules for their students through Moodle. They see this as a wonderful support to their childs learning.
We continued collecting parent email and mobile phone numbers. By the end of this term the data should all be entered and we can begin to communicate via email to our parents with more confidence they are receiving the communication. Our ability to SMS attendance data will also be very high. Praents expressed a strong desire to have access to staff email adresses.
On Wednesday we began our transition tours. The two tours we ran were well attended and we are confident that the transition visits Jill has begun will populate those tours even more.
On Thursday we had our Senior Volleybal teams competing. Both girls and boys teams did really well. On Friday we had senior students out playing tennis and cricket.
On Friday we had a forum at lunchtime for IMPCAT to have more input into the College uniform policy. Over 20 students spoke with us in a highly articulate and intelligent manner. They made some wonderful suggestions and we have agreed to meet again soon to continue our discussions.
Have a great weekend!!!
This weeks PL clip is a TED talk, "Using technology to enable dreaming." It lasts 7 minutes and is quite thought provoking.
