At Monday lunch Book Club commenced. There was much enthusiasm. Students discussed some of their favourite books and came up with some ideas as to what they would like to do in the Bookclub going forward. At the end of the day Education Committee met to set the timetable priorities for 2011. A number of staff finished their Auslan course with a presentation.
The Premier's Reading Challenge finished on Wednesday. A long term effort by staff and students culminating on that day. After school the Working Groups met and were a buzz with activity. The Literacy and Numeracy group began to analyze the 2011 NAPLAN data. Many Year 8 students participated in the Round Robin all day.
On Thursday the Year 10 Design Graphics students had an excursion to the National Gallery Of Victoria. Where they attended the 'Vienna: Art and Design Exhibition'. Students took part in a workshop, where the convenor commented how creative, imaginative, well-mannered and well-behaved our students were. Year 12 students attended a Theatre Studies excursion, viewing a performance of Julius Caesar, again with exemplary behaviour. 9B continued their Intergenerational journey at Strafdon. The Chess Club students successfully engaged in a tournament and move on to State Championships. At the staff meeting analysis of the Student Attitudes to School survey began, with particaular emphasis on the Teaching and Learning Area. This data is to be used to inform planning for priorities in 2012.
Friday saw 60% of our Year 7s enthusiastically participate in a round robin. The Intergenerational Choir continued their work with Strathdon during lunch.
An amazing array of diverse student activities and opportunities -literature, visual arts, performing arts, sport and cross generational work.
