Week 10 - Another Term Comes To An End

On Saturday we welcomed many of our new Year 7 to the College who were students undertaking literacy and numeracy testing. Further testing continued on Wednesday morning.

Our Student Wellbeing Team organised for this final week of term, a well-being week. Daily activities include tea tasting, lunch for the staff , Master Chef and a bungee run for the students.

The school week began with a fantastic day of professional learning - including the linking of learning culture, restorative practice and roles within the process. The working parties continued at full speed, making massive strides and professional sharing of ideas and expertise continued. During the day there were activities for the whole staff combined and at various times our teaching and non teaching staff, catering for various needs of the different groups.

The Year 11 and Year 12 Outdoor Education students attended a camp in the Grampians starting on Monday and finishing on Thursday. Luckily the wild weather did not prevent them from going ahead.

Our College assembly on Thursday morning continued the theme of focussing on our one of our values: respect. A variety of awards were given out for Maths, Science and Debating competitions with lots of students receiving awards, particularly in Year 8. Following this, Year 9 and Year 10 students undertook a series of activities centred around Cyber Safety. 9B continued with their intergenerational journey, with 9C to begin theirs during Term 4.

Throughout Thursday and Friday the process to elect College Captains continued with high quality interviews being held with Year 8 and Year 11 students.

On Friday Parent's Association ran a BBQ for the students and staff received their football tipping rewards!

As we continue to move forward, 215 netbooks were ordered for students from Year 10 upwards 2012. These netbooks were part of the allocation to schools through the National Secondary Schools Computer Fund (NSSCF). Invitations have been sent to our 2012 Year 7 parents for to attend an evening on 19 October regarding the netbook program.

It has been a great term 3, with classrooms alive with learning challenges for students as well as the large number of excursions and incursions that have supplemented classroom work.

We hope you have an enjoyable break and take some well earned time t enjoy not having any timetables or bells to rule your day.

Take care
