Dear all, welcome to week 8 Term 2.

As always the week at Forest Hill College has been a great one. As I walked through our classrooms this week it became very apparent the week has been one where we have been doing a lot of academic testing to measure student progress and the value our teachers have added to the students. A key part of designing curriculum that is challenging and inclusive for students is knowing your students and where they are at on the continuum of learning. I am proud of the work our teachers do to know and use this data.

We have made some great progress in Inter School Debating. Of the 25 schools competing in the A grade section, with 2 rounds to go, we are currently equal first on the Inter School Debating ladder. Caulfield Grammar, Mazenod, Avila, John Monash Science School, Emmaus College, Glen Waverley Secondary College and Mt Waverley Secondary College all have teams placed lower on the ladder than us, but within striking distance of our wonderful A Grade Team. We are confident given their performances to date that they can maintain this ranking and finish the season with a wonderful achievement.

The International Football Program we have been working to implement for 2015 is making good progress. Links have been forged with a number of local soccer clubs over recent weeks and promotional material is beginning to make its way into the hands of prospective student/ athletes hands. The program will of course also be open to existing Forest Hill College students and open days and information sessions will be held in the coming months. The next information session is July 10 at 9:00am at the College . For more details please contact Gary Stone at the College on footballprogram@fhc.vic.edu.au or 0400 477 592

The Junior Music Soiree
The Junior Music Soiree was held on Thursday evening. I had the pleasure of attending and was highly impressed with the quality of the performances. The students have been set high expectations by our Instrumental Music team. They have all learnt their individual skills well, but what was most impressive was how they combined with such synchronicity to produce a wonderful sound as a group. This takes great dedication by our students and we are very pleased with how they have been preparing. The standards have been set high, and the large audience that were in attendance were thoroughly entertained. The Year 9 students who provided the catering for the evening supper did an excellent job. Parents, staff and students alike enjoyed some fantastic foods, that our students had prepared in food technology earlier in the day.

Removal of Absence Hotline

The absence hotline 9814 9419 has now been removed. Parents/guardians may use Compass to approve their child's absence. In the event that this is not possible, please call The General Office on 9814 9444 to report a student absence.
