We would like to wish Jenny Cook all the very best for her leave this coming semester. She has done an enormous job for our school and is taking some time to enjoy her grandchildren. Jenny we thank you for your contribution to the College, your direction and sense of purpose to engage all students in great learning. Whilst we will miss your leadership next semester, the College is in a very healthy state and we are sure you will have a fantastic time relaxing and watching over your grandchildren.
A big semester- Time to rest and reflect
Thanks to all of our staff for their efforts to bring the very best possible education we can to our students. To our staff taking leave, enjoy yourselves, we look forward to seeing you again soon. Have a restful break and enjoy your friends and families.
To the students, you have 2 weeks to recharge your batteries and prepare for a big second half of the year. For the first time, your reports are available online via Compass. Read them carefully and reflect on the areas that you have done well. Build on your strengths and plan ahead to deliver even better results in second semester.
Max Says Thanks
After
today's efforts to support Max E in his fundraising to attend the World
Federation of the Deaf Youth Leadership Camp being held in Rome later this
year, he has reached an amazing total of $1,111.00.
This
included the contributions of all students attending school today in 'free
dress', plus the sausage sizzle and sale of soft drinks at lunchtime.
Max
was overwhelmed by everyone's generous support- the students and teachers who
helped with their services at the BBQ, and to the College as a whole for their
donations. A big thank you to everyone! This last day of Term 2 has been a wonderful day for Max.
Staff Celebrations
This week the Teachers Mutual Bank celebrated the work of Schy Peterson and Amanda Purcell following their success in the Teacher of the Year Awards and the Teacher Initiative Program. Schy has won this Teacher Initiative Program opportunity to present her work incorporating ICT into Theatre Studies at a convention in Paris these holidays and as you know Amanda won a Teacher of the Year Award. Below are some pictures from Schy's Theatre Studies classes.

Girls AFL
This Tuesday our Year 7 ansd 8 girls made their way to Elgar Park for a day of AFL. Coached by Mr Blowers and some of our sports leaders, the team played matches against the other schools in our network and performed well.
Developing Sports Leaders and Heatherwood
On Wednesday our Developing Sports Leaders played basketball with and against students from Heatherwood. They also umpired and coached the games. The students were working towards demonstrating competencies as a referee and coach, building on skills s they have been acquiring in class over the semester.
Year 11 Social
The social was a wonderful event. The students represented themselves superbly. Their behaviour was outstanding. They arrived to Harbour 4 at Victoria Dock at 6:30, dressed magnificently and ready for a fun night. We departed at 7:00 and made our way into the bay. They enjoyed each others company until being seated for dinner. Their manners were great and all enjoyed a lovely dinner. They then danced the night away with many of the staff cutting fine figures on the dance floor.
Thanks to Ms Tsipos and the students for making the night such a great event.
College Council
At College Council this week 2 topics were discussed that we would like to share with you.
The students are keen to looki at a new jacket for the College uniform. Recently the PE staff have purchased a jacket that the students are very keen on. Council has asked to have a look at the costings for the jacket for the July meeting and it is possible we may phase in a new jacket. This would eventually replace the waterproof jacket we currently have, but the new jacket would be
Year 7 Celebration of Excellence
On Wednesday of this week, Year 7 Level Leader Mr David Cutler arranged an expo of Year 7 student work. Students proudly displayed some of their work for the term to each other. Some students showed videos, powerpoints, prezis and models of their work. Some showed us artwork and some showed us their musical talents. What stood out was the students talking about improvement and doing their best. These are key qualities of a good education. When students achieve their own personal best we are satisfied that both they and us have done our job well. It was a fantastic presentation of a wide range of student achievement and talent.
