Dear all welcome back to Term 2. I hope you had a great break.
The students started back on Monday. Most were very well presented in their uniform, looking smart and ready for a big term. The staff have had a big focus on uniform this week. Please ensure if you have a child who is missing a part of their uniform that you send them with a note to their Year Level Leader who will issue them with a pass. Please ensure that the time spent on a uniform pass is minimized. Remember that our Wellbeing Team can and do assist with families who are finding it challenging to afford replacement items.
Congratulations
Max- Year 11
Max has been selected to represent
Australia at the World Deaf Youth Association Camp in Rome from the 12th to the
20th of July this year. He is one of 2 Australians selected. He will travel to
the Isituto Statale di Roma where he will join youth from around the world to
share and exchange different cultures and experiences. Max is to be commended
for his selection into this prestigious event, and we are extremely proud of
him and this achievement.
Year 7 & 9 Vaccinations
All of our Year 7 and 9 students had
their vaccinations on Tuesday of this week.
On
Year 8 Writers Workshop
As part of the ongoing English
incursion program, renowned author Scott Gardiner came out to work with our
Year 8 students this Wednesday. Scott is an author of teen literature who has won book of the year awards previously. He came to us through links we have with the Blackburn Library. His work was to encourage in our students the worth of writing and that all people have a story to tell. He promoted reading and writing and engaged our students in his own stories.
Year 9 Growth- Smart Start Program/
City Camp and Community Service
This Wednesday the Year 9 students began a unit of work on earning money, saving, investing and banking. Staff from the Commonwealth Bank came out and delivered the first of 2 workshops to our students. The students also began their work on either the City Project or Community Service. All of our Year 9 students do community service throughout the Year 9 program.
Year 11 & 12 Top Arts Excursion
Our VCE Art students made the trek
into the NGV to attend the incredible Top Arts Exhibition. Top Art is an exhibit of the highest scoring arts works from last years VCE students. Our students got to look at the development of each piece of work through the folios and journals that accompany each piece of art. This gives our students a clear insight into the design process required to produce the top art scores in VCE.
