Another Great Week- 7

Another week flies by, and more great things happen at FHC.
We participated in another great Professional Learning session after school on Tuesday this week. Staff continued developing skills on how to effectively use Moodle as an online learning management system. Targets were established for staff to have all their courses online by the end of Semester 1.
Staff Domain teams met and continued the work towards documenting our curriculum online for parents and students to be able to access from home. We know that having a documented curriculum is a fundamental element of an effective school. In the 21st century, having it online and accessible for parents and students 24/7 is a logical extension of that. With all our students in years 7-11 in possession of a mobile device, this has become even more important.
The District swimming team competed at Boroondara Pool and our results were very pleasing. A number of students swam great times and will progress to the next level.
Peer Support training and planning by our Peer Leaders continued within the Year 10 Growth Program. This planning is ensuring the lessons and interactions the Year 10 students initiate with their Year 7 groups are meaningful and successful.
The Malthouse Theatre have selected Forest Hill College to participate in a pilot of their new educational programs and this will be delivered through some of our Drama classes.
Interim Reports were all completed on time and are in the process of being proof read, prior to sending home. Parent Teacher bookings were set up and will go live online when the reports are sent home. Parent Teacher Night is on Thursday March 29.
The office staff completed entries for the parent email distribution list this week and we will be sending the College newsletter home on this list on Monday. In future, a link to this blog will also be sent to this distribution list. The intent behind this is to provide parents with up to date information that they can readily access.

This weeks Professional Learning link is about developing a common understanding around differentiating instruction within the classsroom.
