Year 12 had a session run by Deakin University about SEAS - Special Entry Access Scheme. This is a scheme that is used for tertiary selection. It is a program run by many institutes to help applicants who have had educational disadvantage. Deakin take the time to inform our students about the options they have for gaining entry to their institution.
Course selection is an important process for all students to go through having felt their questions and queries can be answered. Continuing our good practice it was great to see a group of staff undertaking training in course counselling and the new process for course selection. This is in preparation for the student interviews and course selections which will start next Wednesday.
All day Thursday our instrumental music team hosted Daylesford Secondary College. Workshops were held during periods 1 to 3. Period 4 there was a joint performance with students from Burwood Height Primary School and our own students in the audience. These activities form part of the requirements for participating in instrumental music and provides experience at performing in front of an audience.
Thursday evening saw the running of the Year 9 to 10 and Year 10 to 11 Course Information Night. A fantastic and vibrant evening for all. This event whilst providing course counselling information showcased the professional way that staff presented accessible information to both parents and students. It was a very welcoming atmosphere and holding the first part of the session in S and H block and then combining showcased the facilities that students work in. There were many comments as parents had not visited the school since completion of H block. Congratulations to all who contributed, as once again being a community event, perceptions are particularly important.
