Another GREAT Week 1

welcome back to Term 4 and week 1 of Another GREAT Week.

Year 7 Vaccinations Monday 15 October

We commenced the week with our Year 12 students participating in practice exams. Research indicates that 2 whole school  initiatives make a significant positive impact on Year 12 results. They are the introduction of a study centre and conducting practice exams. We have done both, and look forward to continually assiting our students achieve their personal best.
As the year reaches it's conclusion for our Year 12 students, it is a time of great excitement and sadness. Many of our students are faced with the prospect that the place they have called their school, will no longer be as big a part of their lives each day. They have strong connections with their teachers, their friends and the places within our College. We too have feelings of sadness as we bid them farewell. However, we also have feelings of great pride, knowing we have all played a significant role in developing them all into the fine young people they are. We enjoy watching them conduct themselves with dignity and class as they participate in their final assembly and College Formal. This assembly is on Thursday 25 October. Parents are encouraged to attend. We have a morning tea for our Year 12 students and their famillies immediately following the conclusion of the assembly. Our students stay very connected to us as they transition into careers and further education. We encourage all students to maintain this connection, and we look forward to hearing of their great success out in the community.

On Tuesday we had our Year 12 Auslan students doing their Oral and Interactive Exam at VCAA. This is a 15 minute session that tests their interactive communication skills. We trust they did well.

Much work is going on behind the scenes to complete our College Magazine. We have 5 weeks to go before it is sent to the printers and following that process, becomes available for the community. As always, this is an outstanding documentation of our school year. At this stage, it appears once again that the magazine will be of excellent quality.

On Wednesday evening our Year 7 debating teams had their initial debating experience. Whilst it was not a formal debate, we know from past experience that this induction is the beginning of a tremendous learning experience, and often at FHC, a very successful one at that. We look forward to tracking their progress and success as they continue through their years at FHC, within this wonderful program at our College.

On Thursday we had Homework Club continue after school. We encourage all students to take advanteg of this great opportunity to get some assistance with their homework.
